I’m Jo; a qualified Play Therapist who loves supporting children, and their families, to live happier lives.
I love play therapy because it empowers children, builds self confidence, self awareness, resilience, and empathy. I practice in a systemic manner, which means I like to work closely with the adults around the child. This helps me to support not just the child, but the family as a whole.
I believe all children, regardless of their abilities or background, deserve the chance to thrive.
I studied my Masters at the University of Roehampton, while my trainee placement hours were in schools in the Southend area.
I practice play therapy privately, either within the child’s school or in a therapy room in Southend. I also work for The Change Project who support families affected by domestic violence.
Prior to my training I worked as a student adviser, offering advice and guidance to students. I have also volunteered with The Samaritans and The Rainbow Trust, who support families of children with life-limiting illnesses.
Earlier in my career I worked as a Learning Support Assistant within schools, focused on supporting children with behavioural issues, including working with children with ASD, ADHD, or had experienced trauma.
